Confession time: sometimes I pretend to know where something is because I’m embarrassed to admit my ignorance. Exhibit A:
The Courtenay Airpark. When I first moved here, people would talk about going to the airpark. I thought they meant “airport”. Then I learned it was a park. Which I thought was “near” the airport. Then I learned that it was in Courtenay but I remained confused. Why was it called the Airpark? Don’t all parks have air?
Eventually someone suggested that we meet at the Airpark and I had to face the truth. Taking a deep breath, I asked: can you drive?
In case you don’t know where the Airpark is and are too embarrassed to ask, it is off Mansfield Drive in Courtenay, between 20th and 31st streets. (Across from Driftwood Mall.) The playground is closer to the 31st Street entrance, by the way.
Some other activities at the Airpark include:
2) Practicing bike skills on a smooth surface:
3) Watching airplanes (*that’s* why they call it the Airpark!)
So there, now my secret is out – one of them, anyway!
